A total of 25 renowned architectural firms were invited to participate in the architectural competition. The winning concept was submitted by the Stuttgart-based architectural firm haascookzemmrich STUDIO2050. The jury included the client LBBW Immobilien, alongside representatives from the city and local council as well as architects and urban planners.

Modern, efficient and flexible rental space: in the future, Königstrasse 1 will be used for a mixture of retail, gastronomy and office space. For everyone who wants to work, shop and enjoy themselves at Stuttgart's best address in the midst of impressive architecture.

The opening of the Schillerpassage, which runs between Königstrasse 1 and the Schlossgarten-hotel, brings light into the building complex. This creates new sightlines, views and connections between the central station and the hotel forecourt.

Sustainability, conservation of resources, minimal carbon footprint: as in the entire Schlossgartenquartier, the revitalisation of this building is also intended to preserve as much of the existing structure as possible and save embodied energy.

The gold sustainability certificate from the German Sustainable Building Council (DGNB) is aimed at for the sustainable construction and use of Königstrasse 1.

LBBW Immobilien is collaborating with Concular to preserve resources during the conversion and reuse them as part of the circular economy. Concular is a market leader for circular construction that is committed to the reuse and recycling of materials.
